'Sweet Kitchen' - Peter Distol (USA)
Sugar is an ingredient that can be found in every kitchen. Being synonymous with sweet - one of the five principle tastes, it is a building block from which food is made. The artwork by Peter Distol consists of a fully functioning kitchen made from real sugar. The "Sweet Kitchen" is one that has a special relationship to the meal being prepared in it, because the kitchen itself is made from an ingredient that is found in almost every food. The kitchen will remain on exhibition at SOCO for the entire year, during which time it will be used by culinary artists for the preparation of monthly food-based art events.
