‘<_ _ _ _>’ - Martyn Peskens (NL)
<_ _ _ _>, code for "Live Space", is a play on the difference between the technical definition of the space that is made by physical boundaries versus the actual definition that is created by the use of the space and its contents (both physical and non-physical). The given definition of the space as SOCO's showroom comes from a mix of both. Peskens has taken a 'defining' element of a showroom, the TL lamp - multiplied, reworked and composed it... transforming the tube from a unit which displays other objects to being the point of presentation itself. Moreover, the lamps produce a lighting sequence that is not meant to display anything but rather interact with and display the space itself.
